How to Get Promoted Faster
How to get promoted faster in the Military is to go to College while you are in the Military. For one thing your College Credit Hours count for promotions points in the Army, for every Credit Hour that you have in College it counts as 1.5 promotions points in the Army. Also you will need to a good qualifying score with you individual weapon. Another thing that you will need is a good P.T. score. There is also this thing called Military Education that you will need to get started with as soon as you get to your unit, will you need to set an AKO account and start doing Correspondence Courses. This Correspondence Courses will take a little bit of time but if max them out it is well worth the time and effort that you put forth on theses Courses. The other way to get promotions points are with Military Awards in the Army. Some of these Awards consists of an A.A.M, Good Conduct Medal, A.R.C.O.M.
*Commanders Points(Max)=150
*Promotion Board Points(Max)=150
*Weapons Qualification(Max)=100
*P.T. Score(Max)=100
*Civilian Education Points(Max)=100
*Military Education Points(Max)=100
*Military Awards Points(Max)=100
With the total maximum points that you could possible get is 800 points. If you max out all your promotions points you are one High Speed Soldier. So like I said when you get to your Unit get on your shit to get Promoted to an NCO. But remember with more rank there comes more responsibilities.

I have a question for you, I was co0ming back from R&R, and on the way back to Bagram(Afghan), from Kuwait, our Plane lost cabin pressure, (I’m gonna try and make this as short and detailed as possible) I put on my air mask,(I was sitting on the side, not in the rows) and two soldiers, and a DOD civilian, were in front of me, the one soldier, to my left panicked, and I told him to relax, and look in the pouch behind the seat, the second soldier, found his mask, but could not open the packet, so I stood up slightly, and helped him out, tearing the packet open pulling the red cord and placing it on his head( during these events my mask came off) I also turned and helped the dod civilian(same procedure) I then turned and helped out the 1st soldier, who had then found his packet(air mask)I started to black out for lack of air,but continued until soldier had his mask on, I put my mask back on and sat down! Long story short we landed in Qatar, rushed to hosp. was diag. with Decompression Poisoning, has since had Vertigo, and heart, since then is beating 3 times faster than normal(according to the Docs.) and on Meds. All this is documented, but have not heard from Unit/Comp. in regards to an award, now I didn’t do all this, just to recieve and award, but since then everyone has asked “did you get a medal or an award” and I have not. What should I do/see?
I did this because its in my nature to help others, and as an NCO, but I am also trying to proceed with my career in the Army! Thank You!

what you should do is go through your proper chain of command, if you are a squad leader yourself, go to your platoon sgt, if he does not want to put you in for an award talk to your platoon leader, if he or she stills blows you off, work your chain of command, go to the 1st sgt, after that go to your unit commander, if all else fails take it all the way to the battiolion commander or squadron commander if u are in a cav unit, but make sure that you have all the proper paper work with you and in hand.. make sure u do not i repeat do not skip any of your chain of command because they really do get pissed about that… and way to step up and be a leader, thats what NCO’s are supposed to do Lead and thats what the hell you did, Great Job SGT
